My beloved readers:

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Carolina Herrera.

In the privacy of my cozy office, soft music playing in th background, a chilled glass of white wine in hand after all, I have two good reasons to celebrate, first, I am the newest addition to Mexi Can Holidays and second, I am in the best mood to tell you about our new travel destination, "Magical Machu Pichu", Peru.

I am sure many of you know or have heard about Machu Pichu. Maybe some of you have even visited Machu Pichu in the past. However, for some others, Machu Pichu sounds foreing to them.

Let's all get comfortable and explore Machu Pichu for a moment.

"Machu Pichu" ofter refered to as "The Lost CIty of the Incas", is one of the most renowened sites located in the country of Peru, in South America.

It is a Pre Columbian Inca site located on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley, at an altitude of 2,400 meters ( 7,875 ft) above sea level.

The site was built around 1460. Saddly, it was abandoned as an official site for the Inca rulers a century later, at the time of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. The legend says that the natives abandoned Machu Pichu to live in more productive lands.

The site was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stoned walls. The "key" buildings are The Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, and the Room of the Three Windows.Reserchers think the Intihuatana stone was built as an astronomic clock or calendar.

The site was forgotten by the world until 1911, when it was discovered by an American historian named Hiram Bingham. At this time, some people were found living on the site and a number of female mummies were also found.

Machu Pichu was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981. In 1983, UNESCO declared Machu Pichu A World Heritage Site.

Machu Pichu was acknowledged as part of the the New Seven Wonders of the World throughout a telephone and online polls accomplished by the New Seven Wonders Foundation.

Something I particularly celebrated when it happened, was the fact that in 2007, Yale University in the United States and the Peruvian government, forged a pact regarding the return of the artifacts that Hiram Bingham salvaged from Machu Pichu. That is where they belong if you ask me.

My dear readers and avid travelers , there are so many interesting facts that I can tell about this wonderful, mystical and magical place. But that is not what I want to do. What I really want to do is invite you to discover Magical Machu Pichu in Magical Peru, by yourself. I guarantee you, an experience you will never forget.
